About Us Menu

The Southern Union Conference Office of Education supports more than 1,000 educators who minister to more than 13,000 children and young adults filling the 151 EC through 12th grade schools, and the 31 Early Childhood Centers found in the eight conferences. Our educators are co-laborers with parents and pastors to help “train children in the way they should go so when they are older, they will not depart from the way.” Proverbs 22:6

In addition, the office of education collaborates with the teacher education programs at both Oakwood University and Southern Adventist University in training the next generation of teachers.

The SUC education department seeks to implement the NAD Education Journey to Excellence 2.0 framework through the Adventist EDGE framework. EDGE stands for Educators Delivering Great Education.

SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION

“All of our children should be taught of the Lord”, Isaiah 54:13, is the guiding principle for SDA education. Modeling genuine Christianity in all interactions between students, teachers, administrators, and staff in all SUC education programs, is the goal. The curriculum is infused with Christian values and students receive daily encouragement in their personal walk with Jesus and accept Him as their Savior.

EDGE students exemplify care for others by participating in community out-reach projects and other faith building activities.

EDGE teachers seek to instill in each student a sense of their value as a child of God and inspire them to treat others with respect.

EDGE administrators strive to create a safe and nurturing school environment where students and teachers are supported and encouraged to be all that God has designed them to be.

Building on a strong spiritual foundation, Southern Union educators will guide students to:

  • love God
  • share the  message and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • have effective interpersonal relationships
  • be responsible citizens
  • live healthy, balanced lives
  • develop to their fullest intellectual potential
  • communicate effectively
  • use effective personal management skills
  • appreciate beauty, nature and fine arts from a Christian perspective
  • be of service to God and man
